Almost without a doubt you have done a push up or at least know what a push up is. In my opinion there are very few exercises that rival the functionality and adaptability. Not to mention, you don’t need any equipment! I truly believe that anyone and everyone should be able to some form of a push up.
There are too many variations and modifications to count but with simple changes, like hand or foot placement, you are able increase or decrease the difficulty of the push up. The basics of a push up will apply to most of the variations.
Here are a few tips to check your form:
1. Start in the top position in a straight line (strong high plank)
2. Lower yourself to the ground under control until you have a 90 degree bend in your elbow or your chest touches the ground.
3. Briefly pause, then drive through the ground and exhale at the top
4. Maintain the “straight line” throughout the movement!
If you found this helpful, let me know and I would be happy to go more in-depth on the variations!
